$2 million to complete the Coast Link Road and help the environment

State Member for Noosa Glen Elmes joined LNP Federal Candidate for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien and Member for Gympie Tony Perrett at Kin Kin yesterday where the Federal Minister for Transport Darren Chester announced that a re-elected Turnbull Government will provide $2 million toward sealing the link road between Noosa and Rainbow Beach.

“I have long promoted the benefits of this project to stakeholders as it ticks all of the boxes – it is a win for tourists and tourism operators, a win for the economy and a win for the environment.

“The completion of the road will allow tourists, particularly slow moving vehicles such as caravans and RV’s to get off the Bruce Highway at Caloundra and not have to return until Maryborough, which means more tourism dollars are spent in the local communities along that stretch.

“The project also drives slower moving traffic off the Bruce Highway which is good news for other road users, and also reduces the need for local traffic to use the beach as the major thoroughfare between Noosa and Rainbow Beach, which is good for the environment.

“Locals and visitors alike will be able to enjoy all aspects of our beautiful coastline more easily without having to own a four wheel drive,”.

“In my opinion a completed Counter Road will be one of the most significant infrastructure achievements for the Sunshine and Cooloola Coasts,” Mr Elmes said.
