GLEN ELMES MP
Member for Noosa
Glen Elmes was elected to the Queensland Parliament in 2006 after 34 years in the commercial radio industry throughout Queensland.  Glen and his wife Lesleigh, and their two children, have lived on the Sunshine Coast for the past 26 years.
Glen joined the Liberal Party of Australia in 1973 and has been a member continuously until the Party reformed in 2008 to become the Liberal National Party.   His party activities include being  Member of the State Management Committee (2 years); Chairman of the Fairfax FEC (9 years); Chairman of the Sunshine Coast Zone (1 year);  an inaugural member of the Mt Isa branch.  Glen has also held many other Liberal Party Branch/Organisational positions and he was awarded the Federal Liberal Party Meritorious Service Award (1996). 
Glen has developed a significant understanding of the Parliamentary process in his role as Opposition Deputy Whip as well as from his participation on the panel of temporary Speakers, and from his  memberships of the Travelsafe Committee and the Integrity, Ethics & Parliamentary Privileges Committee. This understanding is extended though participation in the Australasian Study of Parliament Group (Queensland Chapter) and the prestigious Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. His international interests are reflected by his membership in the Parliament's Queensland China Friendship Group.
He is an active Member, being a regular contributor to Parliamentary debates and bringing matters of public importance to attention. He has held Ministers to account within the Parliament particularly through a lead role in the annual Estimates Committee process of Budget review.
Glen has gained in-depth knowledge of the state's environmental and sustainability issues, beginning with his time as the Shadow Parliamentary Secretary and then as Shadow Minister for the Climate Change & Sustainability portfolio. 
Glen has always been actively concerned for the safety and wellbeing of Queensland residents and handled the portfolio of Shadow Minister for Police and Emergency Services with energy and sincerity. 
Glen is deeply committed to making a difference for all of his constituents. He is determined to keep Noosa the environmentally-friendly and sustainable community that it has developed into and is passionate about social justice matters and community safety & well-being. His other State interests are broad and include the environment and the protection of native flora and fauna, tourism, small business, regional development as well as community safety.
Glen is involved and active in many local community groups, including Noosa Residents & Ratepayers Association;  Noosa Chamber of Commerce;  Noosa Coast Guard;  Noosa Yacht & Rowing Club;  Noosa Parks Association; the Noosa Independence Alliance;  Friends of Noosa;  Noosa Waters Residents Association;  Eumundi Chamber of Commerce; Noosaville Association; Neighbourhood Watch;  AGL Community Rescue Helicopter Service; Maroochy Surf Lifesaving Club - (Honorary Vice President); Noosa Landcare Association; Tourism Noosa;  Noosa Federation of the Arts (Honorary Member); Tewantin-Noosa RSL;  Sunshine Beach SLSC;  Peregian Beach SLSC; and Noosa Heads SLSC.
Glen is a Friend of the Sunshine Coast Community Hospice,  the Patron of the Noosa Pirates Rugby League Club and also a Patron of Surf Life Saving, Sunshine Coast.
