Glen Elmes announces Albert St boat ramp upgrade open ahead of schedule
Noosa boaties are already benefiting from the upgrade of the Albert Street boat ramp at the popular Gympie Terrace, Noosaville site after work was finished ahead of schedule.
Member for Noosa, Glen Elmes, said the upgrade was yet another example of the Newman LNP Government delivering on its election commitment to provide better marine infrastructure.
“As part of the $380,000 project, we’ve rebuilt and widened the boat ramp to current standards and constructed a floating walkway along the eastern edge of the ramp,” Mr Elmes said.
“Floating walkways are a great asset to recreational boat ramps helping to reduce congestion and allowing for ease of boat launching especially in busy times.
“They are also very helpful for children and elderly users entering and exiting their vessels at the ramp.
“I am very pleased that we’ve been able to build this facility and deliver it ahead of time for our local boaties and visitors to the area,” Mr Elmes said.
Construction on the upgrade began in February this year by a local Doonan-based contractor, PJM (Civil).
“This has been a win for Noosa, a great win for boaties and a win for the local economy,” Mr Elmes said.
The project was funded through the Queensland Government’s $50 million Marine Infrastructure Capital and Maintenance Program.
