Glen was born 11 August 1955, is a member of the Liberal National Party and has proudly represented the electorate of Noosa in the Queensland Parliament since 2006, celebrating 10 years of honourable service in October 2016.
Glen and wife, Lesleigh, have two adult children and have lived on the Sunshine Coast for more than 20 years.
Before joining politics, Glen had a successful career in commercial radio management which took him all over Queensland, starting in Mt Isa. Having spent time in many regional and metropolitan communities, Glen has a deep understanding of the numerous and varied needs in these communities.
As a business man and a family man, Glen is practical, level headed and hard working. He understands first-hand all the pressures families face such as health, education, employment and law & order, and the financial pressures faced by business owners in a rapidly changing world where the goal posts are constantly moving. Having raised a family in Noosa, Glen understands first-hand all of the pressures on local families. Health, education, law & order and employment are Glen’s highest priorities as your strong local voice in Government
Before his appointment in 2012 as the Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Multicultural Affairs, and Minister Assisting the Premier, Glen’s Parliamentary service included:
- Shadow Minister for Police and Emergency Services,
- Shadow Minister for Climate Change and Sustainability,
- Opposition Deputy Whip, Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism,
- Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Sustainable Climate Change
Currently in Opposition, Glen is the Deputy Chair of the Integrity Ethics and Parliamentary Privileges Committee and a Member of the panel of Temporary Speakers.
Glen is dedicated to his electorate and passionate about Achieving for Noosa. He is involved and active in many local community groups, including CareFlight Group Queensland; Eumundi Chamber of Commerce; Friends of Noosa; Noosa Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Noosa Coast Guard; Noosa District Rugby Union Club (The Dolphins); Noosa Federation of the Arts (Honorary Member); Noosa Parks Association; Noosa Pirates Rugby League Club (Patron); Noosa Residents & Ratepayers Association; Noosa Tigers AFL Club; Noosa Waters Residents Association; Noosa Yacht & Rowing Club; Noosaville Business Association; Noosa Heads SLSC; Peregian Beach Community House; Peregian Beach Business Association; Sunshine Beach SLSC; Tewantin-Noosa RSL and Tourism Noosa.
Glen joined the Liberal Party of Australia in 1973 and was a member continuously until the Party reformed in 2008 to become the Liberal National Party. His party activities have included being a Member of the State Management Committee; Chairman of the Fairfax FEC; Chairman of the Sunshine Coast Zone; and an inaugural member of the Mt Isa branch. He was awarded the Federal Liberal Party Meritorious Service Award in 1996.
