The Queensland Arts Showcase grant goes to: Noosa LongWeekend Festival

17 June 2016
State Member for Noosa, Glen Elmes MP is pleased to announce that the Noosa LongWeekend Festival has received a cash injection from the State Government’s Art’s Queensland’s funding program.

“The Noosa LongWeekend Festival have successfully applied to the Queensland Arts Showcase Program for a $29, 595 grant that will be invested in the ‘LongWeekend Artways’ installation.

“The renowned and highly respected thirteen day arts and cultural Festival is designed to be affordable and available to the whole community and is deserving of government investment.

“The Festival provides inspiration and opportunities for local artists, attracts local interstate and international participants and audiences; helps to strengthen the economy and boosts the much loved arts and culture sector.

“Earlier this month I was honoured to present Festival volunteer Karen Mitchell with a Noosa Electorate Queensland Day Award for her 12 years of service and contribution to the event’s financial management systems. The Festival goes from strength to strength and has etched its way into the heart of the Noosa community,” Mr Elmes said.

The Festival was formed in 2002 by David Williamson, one of Australia’s foremost playwrights and his wife and author Kristin Williamson together with a number of other arts supporters here in Noosa.

The Noosa LongWeekend Festival will run from 15 – 24 July. For program information visit or call 5474 2544.
