Noosa Hospital Guaranteed: 30 year lease and $5 million annually for the ED
State Member for Noosa, Glen Elmes confirmed that a new 30 year lease for the Noosa Hospital will be secured by an LNP State Government to ensure the continuation of local public services well into the future.
“The current contractual arrangement between the State Government and Ramsay Healthcare is due to expire in June 2020, and local residents need the assurance that a legally binding agreement will ensure the Emergency Department remains open. and the hospital’s capacity to provide beds to public patients continues.
“Today I stand proudly beside my colleague and Shadow Health Minister John Paul Langbroek to announce the LNP’s Noosa Hospital Guarantee which will deliver local public health services through the Noosa Hospital for another 30 years.
“Not only will all existing services, including the intensive care facility be retained, an LNP State Government will also provide an extra $5 million per year (indexed) to allow for additional services in the hospital’s Emergency Department and elsewhere.
“This extra funding will provide for more public medical procedures to cater for the changing age and social profile of the Noosa community.
“On average the Noosa Hospital admits 60 patients per day and employs more than 400 staff across a range of clinical and non-clinical professions, which makes the future of the hospital, integral to the future of the Noosa region.
“The Noosa Hospital provides an outstanding service to the community. This LNP policy provides certainty for its future, the health of residents and job security for employees,” Mr Elmes said.
