Elmes Opens Noosa Jazz Festival
The Member for Noosa, Glen Elmes, has officially launched Noosa’s annual indulgence in jazz, fun and good times for all, the Noosa Jazz Festival.
Now in its 22nd year, the Festival continues to provide locals and visitors with a great way to get out and celebrate the first weekend of spring.
“This Noosa Jazz Festival is a key event on our local cultural calendar, and has become one of Australia’s most popular and enduring jazz events,” Mr Elmes said.
“What better place to enjoy the smooth tunes of jazz than in the gorgeous environmental and cultural surrounds of Noosa.
That’s an opinion obviously shared by thousands of people from outside Noosa who make the journey each year to be part of the festival.
“Staged at a number of venues across the town, the Festival showcases our restaurants, cafes and bars, the idyllic Noosa River and our beautiful Main Beach.”
Mr Elmes said the Queensland Government, through Tourism and Events Queensland, supports the Festival with funding of $50,000.
He said that supporting events like the Noosa Jazz Festival is part of the Newman Government’s commitment to grow annual overnight visitor expenditure from $15 billion to $30 billion by 2020.
“I’d like to thank the event organisers, the local community and everyone involved in ensuring this is another great success for Noosa and the Sunshine Coast,” Mr Elmes said.
“I hope those visiting us take some time to stay on after the festival to discover the fantastic tourism experiences on offer throughout the region.”
